Time and patience – medical textbook

"The physician must follow the course of childbirth and not vice versa. Therefore, he who has not time and patience to hold out at the birthing bedside as long as is necessary should not take charge of a birth. The worst and most erroneous indication for artificial termination of labor is the inability of the obstetrician to wait!"

Textbook of Obstetrics. W. Stoeckel (ed.), Director of the Univ. Women's Hospital Berlin, Jena 1930, p. 213.
