The website www.embryotox.de serves as a source of information for both healthcare professionals and the general public on (almost) every medicine available on the market. It is expressly stated that, whilst preliminary information is important for the general public, it is no substitute for a consultation with a healthcare professional. The platform also offers free advice, as well as the opportunity to share personal experiences.

For each medication, information is provided regarding the period before pregnancy, the first trimester (up to the third month), the second and third trimesters, childbirth and breastfeeding.

The portal is operated by Charité, a university hospital, and is funded by the Ministry of Health.
