WHO and UNICEF initiatives

Sleeping together in one bed promotes the development of attachment between baby and mother through physical contact. It also makes breastfeeding at night easier and it can help prevent sudden infant death syndrome.

UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) have set themselves the goal of providing special protection for the first phase of a newborn's life. With the "Baby-Friendly-Initiative”, they have developed a care concept which 20,000 maternity clinics worldwide have adopted. In Germany, it is possible for children's clinics to be acknowledged as "baby-friendly".
